Skills of Success

Skills of Success provides solution focused coaching to small groups of students targeted on: using coping skills and managing emotions, engaging in healthy relationships, planning/organizing, utilizing a positive support system, engaging in pro-social behaviors and building confidence/strong self esteem.

These Skills of Success skills are more essential than ever as our students are reporting high levels of anxiety and currently have limited access to supportive services available in the community.

The Skills of Success program, which targets 20 essential “skills” that increase the ability to “succeed”, was most recently piloted in a small group format, in a Middle School in Wyoming. After only 4 hours of intervention, students reported a significant increase in their ability to:

  • manage stress

  • manage angry feelings

  • manage nervous feelings

  • see things from a different perspective (empathy)

  • like myself (self esteem)

  • feel confident (efficacy)

  • get along with family members

  • ask for what I need (efficacy)

  • Each of these directly impact students’ strengths and will enhance their overall positive sense of well being.

Due to its success, Skills of Success of now also being piloted at a Juvenile Detention Center in Arizona and that same Middle School as a full classroom program.

According to Everybody Matters CEO and Founder, Lori Madrid, “The benefits of providing solution focused strategies to students are obviously not only the immediate improvement in their sense of overall well-being, but also in teaching the ability to be future focused and to address concerns with a positive strength based lens. We are excited to continue to measure the positive impact and expand this program to schools across the nation.”
