So, even though I’m the CEO
So, even though I’m the CEO, I still do direct practice whenever I can - you know, if I don’t have a little dried play-doh caked under my fingernails at the end of the day, I’m not sure I’ve been working hard enough. And last week, when a young boy and I were reviewing the progress he’s been making on learning to be a good friend we came across a picture he’d drawn of me the second week we met. He looked at it and was a little confused and said, “wait, I forgot your gray hair!” So he proudly added my gray hair - then looked very satisfied. Then realized he needed to add my purple shirt and black pants. He was “filling in the picture,” just like he’s been “filling in the picture” of what it means to be a good friend and how to feel included and a part of what’s all around him. And while he was doing all of this learning, he also just happened to create a great new headshot for my bio!
At Everybody Matters we use play doh and crayons and toys to help children perfect their coping and social skills while they improve their overall sense of wellbeing. Our interns have caseloads of at LEAST 12 kiddo’s and are guaranteed to do at least 150 sessions while with us. Interns have a front row seat of observing the children's progress and eventually discover that they are growing right along with them in a parallel process.
Show up with purpose and leave feeling rewarded. By the end of the Everybody Matters AZ internship, you will feel entirely confident to enter the field. Sign up today to start your internship!
